A highly experienced former HSBC Bank Area Director until end 2004 with successful track record in Corporate, Commercial and Personal Financial Sectors, and General Management of a large complex business. Brings skills in Chairing, HR, Marketing, Media, Presentation, Training, and Strategic leadership. For the last two years served as Part Time Executive Chairman of Napthens LLP a General Practice Law Firm with the strongest commercial profile in the area. Led them through a period of expansion more than trebling the business size through four mergers, and built in appropriate structures and strategies to maximise benefits. Now 28 Partners, 200+ staff. Stepped down December 2007 by prior mutual agreement to make way for full time leadership.

Also undertakes Non-Executive work and other special projects in the Professional, Commercial and charity sectors.


Led Napthens solicitors through 4 successful mergers, taking the lead in negotiations regarding strategy, finance, HR and structure. Having more than trebled the size, embedded strategy to take the business forward to the next level. Before stepping down agreed next three year business plan to be driven by new full-time leadership.

Other recent experience in undertaking reviews as varied as shoe manufacturing in Bulgaria, Community Radio, a large charity, a construction business, and a major law firm.

Highly experienced in all aspects of business and personal financial services. Until 2004 responsible for HSBC Bank's exposure to over 15,000 businesses, and 150,000 personal customers. Line Manager to over 100 Managers including Regulated Sales Force of 34 Private Banking Managers/Supervisors.

Expert in Small/Medium sized business issues - experience of running a large Enterprise Agency.

Cross cultural expertise - contacts and business undertaken in Bulgaria, Greece, India and China.

Initial Review of Napthens Solicitors led to a major restructuring of the business, and a wholesale change in business practices which have revitalised and energised the business and its people.

25 years' experience in Change Management with HSBC Bank. Developed and implemented change and efficiency policies both in the Bank and the law firm through multi-skilling, productivity management leadership training and enabling. Strong presentational skills and credibility ensured staff support in both businesses.

On three occasions implemented local policies which were rolled out across the whole UK HSBC branch network.

Passionate about developing people - initiating mentoring and key leadership development programmes in Napthens, as | did in the Bank where I had a reputation for bringing people on.

Able to foster and develop good staff relations and open communication to enhance staff retention and minimise sickness. A 'People Person'
